Pride Barcelona
The Barcelona Pride is an international celebration of LGBTQ+ pride that attracts people of all ages and nationalities. It’s much more than just a parade, it’s a powerful statement of tolerance, love, and equality.
If you're thinking of joining Barcelona Gay Pride, read on to find out everything you need to know about this major LGBTQ+ event.
History of Barcelona Pride
The Barcelona Pride has a rich history that dates back almost five decades. It all began with the gay pride demonstration held on 28 June 1977, a landmark moment in Spain’s LGBT history, as it was the first major visibility event for the community.
Over the years, Pride has grown and evolved, always staying true to its original spirit and mission: to celebrate diversity and fight for the rights and equality of the LGBTQ+ community.
This year is especially significant, as it marks the 20th anniversary of the legalisation of same-sex marriage in Spain, a milestone in the country’s journey towards equal rights.
When is Barcelona Pride?
Barcelona Pride takes place every summer, and this year the key dates run from 28 June, coinciding with International Pride Day, through to 19 July.
