LOCATION

Our hotel close to Paseo de Gracia and Plaza de Cataluña

The Gran Hotel Havana is in a privileged location between Paseo de Gracia and the city’s famous Plaza Cataluña. You can reach practically everywhere by walking or, if you prefer, all the city’s metro lines, the Renfe Rodalies local train service, and the FGC (Catalan Government Railways) are very close by, along with an extensive network of buses.

Located in the Eixample district of Barcelona, situated right in the city centre, in the very heart of Barcelona close to the elegant Paseo de Gracia, which is home to numerous shops, bars, restaurants and is for many their favourite part of Barcelona, the location is often charming. One can stroll to Gaudi's work on the famous boulevard, the Sagrada Familia or the emblematic Plaza de Cataluña, which are just minutes away from the hotel. It is easily accessible by public transport, the perfect location for exploring Barcelona, just a few minutes walk from Plaça Catalunya and Passeig de Gràcia train stations, you can take the train to the airport, as well as the alternative Barcelona bus and metro lines which run much more frequently.

¿How to get here?

From Sants Station, we recommend taking the green metro line and getting off at “Paseo de Gracia” or any Rodalies local train that stops at that station. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk away.

Buying a zone 1 T-10 ticket is recommended if you are going to use public transport frequently to move around the city.

It will be easy to find a taxi anywhere in the city. Getting a taxi from the airport to the hotel will cost you around 35 euros depending on the traffic, your luggage, or the relevant tariff.

Travelling by Aerobús is the most convenient way from El Prat airport to Plaza Cataluña. The Gran Hotel Havana is less than 10 minutes walk from there.

You can also take a train from the airport to Sants station. On arrival, you can take the green metro line, getting off at Paseo de Gracia, which takes 10 minutes.

If you choose to take a taxi, the journey to the hotel will cost you around 35 euros depending on the traffic, your luggage, or the relevant tariff.

Being located on one of the city’s main roads, it is easy to drive to the Gran Hotel Havana. You simply need to take Barcelona’s Gran Vía until you reach number 647.

We have parking spaces available for our guests, subject to availability on the day of arrival, at a daily cost of 24€.

There are other urban buses that connect the city to the airport apart from the Aerobús. They are cheaper (you can pay with a T-10 ticket, the most recommended transport ticket if you want to get around the city), but they are also slower (up to 50 minutes, depending on the traffic, whereas the Aerobús takes 20 minutes).

You can take bus 46 from Plaza España, which stops at Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2).

If travelling at night, you can take the N18 for T1 or T2, the N17 for T1, or the N16 for T2. All night buses leave from Plaza de Cataluña.

Historic building in the centre of Barcelona

The Gran Hotel Havana 4 star superior building is none other than the Casa Fradera, which dates back to 1882. The building is historic, originally consisting of ground floor, mezzanine, main floor and two other floors. The eclectic-style façade is crowned by an eye-catching clock in the centre of the corner. During the early years of the 20th century, the building housed the French Consulate General. In 1991, the original appearance of the building's façade was modified and its structure was completely refurbished according to a project signed by the architect Joan Juanpere i Miret, which was to convert it into the Gran Hotel Havana. The renovation included a one-storey elevation above the clock and the incorporation of the adjoining property on Carrer Bruc. However, the whole was resolved with dignity by means of an intervention far removed from some recent additions, which have placed more emphasis on the radical differentiation of the addition with respect to the original building than on maintaining a certain uniformity of the whole.

Today, as a 4-star superior hotel, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a bright, classic décor, marble bathroom, flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has a sauna and a rooftop terrace with seasonal swimming pool and terrace with privileged views, providing the luxury of relaxing and unwinding in a chill-out space in the heart of Barcelona.
